Me Before You by Jojo Moyes is an adult fiction novel set in a small town in England that's main point of attraction is a castle in the middle of the whole town. This novel was tear-sobbing, heartbreaking, and heart wrenching but probably one of the best books if not the best book I have ever read. I started to read this book because I wanted to branch out and try a new genre besides paranormal and fantasy and I heard nothing but good reviews about the author and the book. It is probably her most talked about book as well. The main female character’s named Louisa Clark but everybody calls her Lou, except for the main male character William Traynor, who calls her Clark. Will is a quadriplegic, someone who has no use of both their arms and legs. His mother hires Lou as a caretaker of sorts, mostly to be a cheerful face and companion for Will. Without spoiling too much, Will wants to go to Switzerland to a place that helps people die who don’t want to suffer anymore. When Lou finds out about this, she tries throughout the entire novel to try and change his mind, falling in love with him and him with her throughout the entire process. This novel was not light and fluffy. It was serious and thought provoking and very sad but I’m glad and do not regret reading about their story. Lou is not only a relatable character for some people but she is fun, upbeat and has a quirky sense of fashion. Will, not as relatable to some but still an amazing character is sweet and thoughtful, but only to Lou, given time. I hope you read this book and fall in love with not only the plot but the characters as well.
